    Pushback Rack in Huntsville, AL

Pushback rack stores pallets on nested carts within an inclined lane. Loading pushes the preceding pallets back; retrieval brings the next pallet toward the aisle. It suits food and beverage reserve stock and 3PL inventory with multiple pallets per item around Jetplex, SouthPoint Business Park and the west I-565 corridor.

Density starts with pallets per item

Count the pallets behind each part number before selecting lane depth. A deep lane that holds only one pallet leaves positions unused. A shallow lane that cannot hold a regular batch spreads that batch across several locations. The right comparison includes full lanes, part-full lanes and the space retained for receiving and shipping.

Pushback is generally a last-in, first-out arrangement within each lane. Beverage reserve stock or a 3PL account may fit that pattern; dated goods that need strict first-in, first-out handling may call for pallet flow. We separate those requirements early, then size the rack around actual pallet condition, dimensions and loaded weights.

    Automotive parts along Greenbrier Parkway

The assembly plant and its Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier base along I-565 and I-65 drive frequent stock movement. Model program changes bring re-slotting, so lane allocation should reflect both regular replenishment and changing parts lists. Keep small-volume items in selective positions rather than filling deep lanes with isolated pallets.

Greenbrier and Huntsville West include newer 32–36 ft clear distribution buildings. Older buildings around North Huntsville and Jetplex offer different height constraints. We check the carts, beam elevations and forklift placement together. A taller building is useful only if the truck can handle the intended load at the required elevation.

    Keep the working aisle usable

One working face can reduce the number of aisles serving reserve pallets, but the aisle still needs enough width for your forklift to square up with the lane. Include turns, end-of-row movement and staging in the drawing. Beam capacity, cart loading and pallet support are checked against the loads assigned to the system.

Hot, humid Huntsville summers require attention to crew staging in non-air-conditioned warehouses. We agree the assembly sequence and working areas before installation so inbound pallets are not staged in the same space as rack components. North Alabama's spring and late-fall severe storms also make an agreed unloading and staging plan important.

    Warehouse Racking Questions

Is pushback right for beverage reserve stock near Jetplex?

It can be when several pallets share an item and last-in, first-out access within a lane fits the stock rotation. We compare batch size and date requirements before choosing lane depth.

How does supplier re-slotting affect pushback in the I-565 corridor?

Changing model programs can change pallets per part number. Leave a selective portion for low-volume parts and use pushback lanes for the groups with enough quantity to occupy them.

What should a 3PL send before a pushback quote?

Provide pallet sizes and weights, pallets per item, rotation requirements, forklift details and a building drawing. Separate accounts that need individual pallet access from those suited to lane storage.
